The Best Novel I've Ever Read

I would like to assert that To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is the best novel I've ever read.  There.  It's official.

The first time I read it, I was fourteen years old in my freshman English class.  I remember loving Miss Maudie, cursing Ms. Dubose, and laughing at stupid Dill.  But what I remember most is my mother sitting down on the couch in our family room with me to read the part where Scout stands on Boo Radley's porch and sees everything that he saw and feels what he felt.  I remember crying and smiling and rereading it again that night in my bed before going to sleep.

Tonight, I got to that part again.  And it was just as wonderful repeated.  How sweet is it?  I love how she puts her hand on his arm so that if Miss Stephanie Crawford was watching it would look like he was walking them home.  I love how Scout says, "Well, it'd be sort of like shootin' a mockingbird, wouldn't it?"  I love how Atticus says, "Thank you for my children, Arthur." I love how Boo pets Jem's head while he sleeps.  I'd be lying if I said I didn't shed a few tears this time too.
