The God I Know

Caspar David Friedrich, Monk by the Sea

I've been thinking a lot lately about God. Recently in the news and in social media, I've noticed a trend toward a God who gets revenge, or a God who can snap the trap when we think men fail to. A God that is scary.

That is not the God I know.

The God I know is kind. He is merciful.

The God I know is not vindictive or spiteful. Instead, He is gentle.  He forgives.

And He loves us completely.

And I am not afraid of what God will do to me. Instead, I am grateful for what He does for me.

The God I know is wonderful, and He believes in me.

And I believe in Him.

  1. I like this post so much. I love the idea that we all worship (or fear) different Gods. When really He's the same God, who may look different depending on each individual's relationship with Him. I choose to believe in the God you described too.
