Memorial Day Weekend

Washington DC knows how to do Memorial Day Weekend.

Saturday, I went out to run some errands before we headed to the lawn of the Capitol to watch the dress rehearsal for the PBS National Memorial Day Concert. Dress rehearsal meant avoiding the crowds, but it also meant the occasional stand-in for the real people. Jennifer Nettles was miraculous and I teared up when they played the military medley. And the Capitol at night is really beautiful.

The next morning we drove into the city early and walked around the monuments and memorials. I saw the WWII memorial for the first time and teared up a little bit. We stuck around for a bit to watch some of Rolling Thunder. There were so many bikers; I definitely stuck out in a pink chiffon skirt.

Monday was just relaxing and getting prepared for the week; it really was a relaxing weekend.
