My 5 Favorite Books I Read in 2022

1. A Town Like Alice by Nevil Schute. A post-World War II story about a woman who inherits a large sum of money and uses it to resolve some unfinished business from the War. I can't fully summarize this book without giving away the best surprises (and I encourage you DO NOT READ THE SUMMARY - it spoils the best parts!), but please read it. I know you'll love it.

2. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. A decades long friendship and video games are at the center of this novel and I could not put it down. Highly recommend!

3. Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner. As someone who does not typically enjoy memoirs (I know...) this one completely surprised me. It tells the story of the author's relationship with her mother as she battles cancer. Michelle describes the process of connecting with her Korean heritage through food, music, and memory.

4. The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb. On the eve of a career-defining competition, a violinist's beloved Stradivarius violin is stolen. This is Slocumb's debut novel and I cannot wait to see what he does next; this was spectacular!

5. Facing the Mountain: A True Story of Japanese American Heroes in World War II by Daniel James Brown. This was fascinating and engaging the entire time. I've read several of Brown's books; this is one of his best!
