Touristing After Work

I was going to make separate posts for each of these events, but I've become far too lazy. So here's a few pictures from my tourist adventures over the last few weeks. It's become an obsession.

From the Hirshhorn (the pictures from my last post are from here as well!) which I absolutely loved.

And because I put all the colorful ones in the last post . . .  I present the white aesthetic.

The National Portrait Gallery was beyond expectations. The courtyard alone was a sight to behold, but the collection was so big, I split it up over two afternoons.

^^ Who knew Edgar Allan Poe and Winfield Scott were so handsome?? ^^
^^ Andrew Jackson and Alexander Hamilton ^^
^^ JOSEPH SMITH! and a selfie with Stephen F. Austin (we're related somehow....I'm pretty sure) ^^

The American Art Museum is in the same building.

^^ Mahonri Young on the left ^^

^^ The detail of these statues was breathtaking. Anyone who makes stone look soft has all of my respect. ^^

And then Air and Space. I forgot to take very many pictures there. The place was jam-packed but I still loved it. The perk of going to a museum by yourself is that you can slip through pretty quickly if you mean to.

Yesterday, I finally made my way over to Capitol Hill Books. It's AMAZING. I had a bit of a spiritual experience in that store, I kid you not. Floor to ceiling packed with used books (even the bathroom!) and the funniest little signs all over the place. It's already one of my favorites, and I feel I won't be able to resist going back.

It's been so much fun exploring new places and revisiting some of my favorites. The walks leave me sweaty and weaving among school groups and large families, but the pros really outweigh the cons. I'm really loving these adventures.
