1. All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker - This was our book club pick for the month and I have mixed feelings. Some of it was my fault - I went into it expecting it to be a thriller and that's what I wanted. Instead, this is much more a drama. A long exploration of a friendship over many years. It was good, but not a stand out for me.
2. Joan of Arc: Her Story by Régine Pernoud and Marie-Véronique Clin, translated by Jeremy duQuesnay Adams - This was excellent. Last month, Joan of Arc came up in a conversation and I realized I didn't know very much about her. This book details the world she was born in, her short life, and her lasting legacy. Pernoud is a renowned French historian so I expected great things and this absolutely delivered. This book made me love Joan more than I could have anticipated.
3. Mother Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon - So fun! I was itching for a mystery for October, and this fit the bill perfectly. Mother, Daughter, and Grandmother investigate a murder while healing some family strife. A light and easy read - would recommend.
4. Everything is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistance of Our Deadliest Infection by John Green - This is November's book club pick and I did not expect to like this as much as I did! I listened to this one and it was so interesting I'm considering buying the book. I can't wait for our book club meeting in a couple of weeks cause I desperately want to talk about this. 5 stars!
