One of my goals this year is to visit all of my county public library locations. Fairfax County has 23 locations, and I've probably been to about 7 of them over the last 12 years, but I plan to visit or revisit all of them. It shocks no one that I love libraries and this seems like a fun way for me to celebrate my love of books and hopefully spend more time outside of my immediate neighborhood.
With that precursor, here is the first of (hopefully) many library posts for the year: The Dolley Madison Branch.
I used to live near McLean where the Dolley Madison library was one of my closest branches so I have definitely been there before! This location is one of my favorites. The new arrivals section is large and typically well stocked and the holds are right at the front and easy to find. They have a great book sale spot and their seasonal/thematic displays are always really fun. They do little polls where you put a ping pong ball in the tub that gets your vote. AND there's a lovely portrait of Mrs. Madison in the lobby which makes me happy. Also, the bathroom was really clean.
10/10.
