Everything I Read in January 2026

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi - This was our book club book for January and I really liked it! The premise a cafe where you can got back in time if you sit in a particular chair for as long as your coffee is warm. It was heartwarming and charming. It made me tear up a few times. A great way to start out the new year.

Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross - This was LUSH. A fantasy story following a herald for the gods and a mortal man who has been dreaming about her since childhood. I savored this book while I was reading it, and now a few weeks after reading I miss that feeling! This is a book I had been anticipating and I'm glad it met expectations.

Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy - Another incredible read! This books follows a family on a remote island near Antarctica and a woman who washes up on shore. Everyone has secrets and everyone has to decide what or who is worth sacrificing for. It was brutal and very intense at moments, but I couldn't stop listening to it. I don't think this is a book for everyone, but it definitely hit for me.

Timeline by Michael Crighton - This was goodish. I had watched the movie several weeks back so I decided to pick up the book, and maybe that was a mistake to have them both so close in my memory. The tensions didn't feel as tense, but I did have a good time. I'm not typically a fan of time travel in books so I was pleasantly surprised it didn't bother me. Wasn't bad but I'm not glowing.
